You might ask what is local 3-pack is; this refers to the top 3 results displayed after you search a company or service nearby (as shown above). Those 3 listings will have the company's reviews, location, phone number and etc. When your company shows up in the 3 pack, you get approximately 60-70% of the traffic to your site. Now, let's talk about what makes your business show up on the 3-pack. The list below is my list, I listed them being very important to less important. The order may differ from expert to expert.

1. Business Name Keywords
If a keyword is in your business name, you may get a ranking boost (though this is often abused and against guidelines). Be careful with this, it can cause termination of your profile! Do not stuff keywords into your title; pick one or 2 words that align with your business on paper. (I personally wouldn't recommend it)

Google prioritizes businesses that are physically closer to the person making the search—especially on mobile.
3. Google Business Profile (GBP) Category Relevance
Your primary category must match the searcher’s intent. Secondary categories also help, but less so. Make sure to add all the relevant categories to your business profile. This can only help you be more relevant and show up in the search results more often.
4. On-Page SEO for Location Pages
Your website’s title tags, headers, schema markup, and content should reinforce your location and services. Make sure to reflect your profile categories on your home page. Like if your GBP (Google Business Profile) has categories such as plumber and drainage service, you want to write about these services on your home page so your website matches your profile categories.
5. High-Quality Backlinks to Location Pages
Links from local organizations, chambers of commerce, or niche directories improve authority. Talk to some of the local businesses to write blog post about your business, you do the same for them.

If you are a plumber or HVAC contractor, I would recommend, you share photos of yourself repairing and being near things that are relevant to your business, like HVAC units, sinks, plumbing, etc.
